THE GOVERNANCE COMMISSION SHALL REPRESENT THE COMMUNITY OF NAHATA DZIIL AND SHALL:
- Protect the health, safety and welfare of the people.
- Respect the concerns and interest of the local community.
- Make effective and efficient decisions concerning local matters.
- Create opportunities so that the people can prosper and flourish economically and educationally.
- Ensure that custom and traditions of the Dine will be maintained.
- Foster the participation of the youth in the community.
- Ensure separation of powers and checks and balances of power in the operation of the local government.
- Enact ordinances, rules and regulations consistent with Navajo Nation law.
- Represent the community at the tribal, county, state and federal levels.

Chapter Mission
The Mission of the Nahata Dziil Commission Governance is to create a safe and healthy community environment primarily for its members and other citizens in the surrounding community.
