POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THE NAHATA DZIIL CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Purpose:

The purpose of the Nahata Dziil Commission Governance Scholarship is to help students defray the cost of necessary expenses while attending community college, university, or vocational programs.

CHECKLIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

 

 

Application: The applicant shall fill out a Scholarship/Financial Assistance
Application with all pertinent documents attached.                                                      ALL NDCG SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION SHALL BE COMPLETE BEFORE IT WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR CONSIDERATION.

DOCUMENTS NEEDED:

1. Completed Current NDCG SFA Application 

2. Copy of Social Security Card

3. Copy of Original Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB)

4. Copy Current Voter’s Registration Card 

5. Authorization to Release Information from (College/Trade)

6. Copy of Current Official Letter of Acceptance/Verification (Will call school for verification)

7. Copy of Current Class Schedule

8. Copy of Official or Unofficial Transcript  

 

 

 

Eligibility-A student must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the Nahata Dziil Commission Governance Scholarship/Financial Assistance.
Option if Student is not 18 years old
1. Parents (Both) and student must reside in Nahata Dziil Community boundaries.

2, Parents/Guardian must provide Voter’s Registration if student is under 18.
3. Shall be pursuing a degree or certificate from an accredited College, University or Vocational School.
4. Shall be classified as part-time 4-6 credit hour or full time, 12-15 credit hours per semester.
Financial Award:
Awards will be distributed equally for full time students; exception of part time students will be subject to ratio of credit hours.
1. Full time Students Seniors/Juniors $500.00
2. Full time Students Sophomores/Freshmen $500.00
3. Part time/Internship Students All Levels $300.00
4. Vocational Students All Levels $300.00

ALL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS AND IT IS ON FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS WITH PROOF OF HOME SITE LEASE WITHIN THE NAHATA DZIIL BOUNDARY.
Terms:
Applicants may apply each semester however priority will be given to those students that have not received any type of financial assistance for the Fall or Spring Semester within the fiscal year. Students shall carry 6-credit hours. (Part time) or 12 credit hours (Full time) with a grade point average of 2.5 or better.

REMEMBER all documents must be attached before it is accepted for consideration.

Scholarship and Financial Assistance

Purpose:
The purpose of the Nahata Dziil Commission Governance Scholarship and Financial Assistance is to
aid students to defray expenses endured while attending college, university or vocational programs.

Responsibilities:
1. Commission Manager and Commissioners are responsible for:
A. Ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed with their educational endeavors.
B. Reviewing all Scholarship/Financial request and ensure that all students meet the eligibility criteria.
C. The Commission Manager will review all scholarship/financial applications for compliance
with NDCG policy.
D. The Commission Manager and Administrative Assistant will review the budget for availability
of funds.

Eligibility:

Application: The applicant shall fill out a Scholarship/Financial Assistance
Application with all pertinent documents attached.

Voter Registration:
• Students who are 18 years of age must be registered with Nahata Dziil. Commission Governance and shall have been registered for three (3) months prior to request for assistance.
• Students not yet 18 years of age, their parents (both) or legal guardian shall be registered with Nahata Dziil Commission Governance for at least six (6) months in order for student to be eligible.
• Verification is done by verifying with NN Election office, and a copy of the voter’s registration
card or receipt and/or listed on the current Nahata Dziil Commission Governance voter’s listing.

Copy of original Letter of Acceptance or Verification Letter of Enrollment:
• Student shall attach a copy of acceptance or enrollment verification with college, university or vocational on the school letterhead or logo.

Transcript:
• Official transcript from last school attended, if recently graduated from High School, that transcript shall be attached to application.
• Official transcript or Unofficial transcript shall be submitted from college, university or vocational school.

Copy of Social Security Card:
• A copy of original Social Security card and shall be signed. This is required for all applicants.

Copy of Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB):
• A copy of original Certificate of Indian Blood is required and shall be attached to application

Copy of Current Class Schedule
• A copy of a current class schedule

Procedures:
